St Swithun’s French teacher Caro Bewes jumped from 15,000 feet in a tandem parachute jump to raise over £1,000 towards the school’s Legging it for Lira challenge. This challenge saw the school community walk, run, row, swim, cycle and ride on horseback to cover a distance of 6,000 miles in 12 hours raising over £20,000 for St Katherine’s School in Lira, northern Uganda.

Caro performed her jump at the Salisbury Old Sarum airfield. She said afterwards “This is something I have always wanted to do but hadn’t had a reason to until now. Travelling at 120mph through the clouds is an unforgettable experience which I enjoyed every minute of”.
