MAYOR OF EAST GRINSTEAD OPENS NEW BUILDING AT GREENFIELDS SCHOOL

21 May 2019

The Mayor of East Grinstead, Councillor Rex Whittaker, has opened a new building at Greenfields School. The facility consists of an impressive 2000 square feet of four state-of-the-art classrooms and an office space.

The new classrooms have been assigned for the teaching of English as a Second Language, Spanish, History, Geography and Cambridge English. The external appearance of the building has been designed to complement the rural setting of the school, the Royal Ashdown Forest – and the many windows offer panoramic views of the school’s beautiful grounds.

The school would like to acknowledge that the funds for the building were bequeathed by a gentleman named Norman Lewis who had a desire to help an educational charity.

It is therefore being named ‘The Lewis Building’ in his honour.

The Executive Head, Jeff Smith, said: “This is a very positive step for the school as it improves our ability to provide our educational services to international students, who in turn visit and interact with the wider community as part of the cultural exchange which we offer.”
