Millfield – Records set at House Athletics 2017

This year’s House Athletics was once again full of house spirit and determined performances. Eight new event records set during the afternoon, including two outright school records.

Jami Schlueter (Keens Elm) led the way with an early junior boys’ long jump record of 5.88m and Millie Quaintance (Acacia) followed suit with a massive 34.70m throw in the junior girls’ javelin. Georgia Dolan (Acacia) also set a junior girls’ discus record of 20.97m. At intermediate level, Marcia Sey (Kernick) jumped 5.25m to set a new record in the girls’ long jump, and Ollie Thorner (Great) cleared 1.88m in the boys’ high jump.

On the track, Lucia Gifford-Groves (Ivythorn) set the junior girls’ 200m record, with a winning time of 26.7 seconds.  In the relays, records were set by the Ivythorn Flames in the junior girls’ 4x100m, and by St Anne’s in the intermediate boys’ 4x100m.

At junior level, Year 9 girls made up six teams, with the Ivythorn Flames ending up eventual winners. Year 9 boys were represented by nine teams, with Keens Elm Cavaliers ending the day victorious. Abbey won the intermediate girls’ competition and Kingweston came home first for the intermediate boys’. At senior level, Kernick and Butleigh won for the girls’ and boys’ respectively.
