Musical Festivities at Bromsgrove School
09 Apr 2013
The Annual House Music Festival took place at Bromsgrove School on Sunday 24th February, in the School’s historic Routh Hall.
Thirty-five talented pupils treated the audience to a great variety of music, kindly adjudicated by Mr Shaun Ward, Director of Music at St. Lawrence, Ludlow.
The winners for each class were Patrick Dolan (piano); Emily Collie (strings); Georgia Meredith (vocal); Nikita Aganin (guitar); Pratik Moholkar (drums); James Mayhew (open brass) and Emma Westley (woodwind), who also earned the title of overall winner.
Assistant Director of Music Mr Richard Knight conducted the Orchestra in a performance of the lyrical and often dramatic first movement of Schubert’s ‘Unfinished’ Symphony. Then from the Romantic Movement to a 1955 film, Director of Music Mr Jonathan Kingston wielded the baton for Eric Coates’ stirring ‘Dambusters March’ to round off the day.
