New Head Teacher for Staines Prep

07 Mar 2014

Staines Prep is delighted to announce that Samantha Sawyer BEd (Hons), NPQH, has been appointed as the Head Teacher (designate) of the long established, co-educational preparatory school in Gresham Road.  She will take up her new post with effect from 1st September 2014.

Ms Sawyer is currently Assistant Head Teacher (EYFS-KS3) at The British Embassy School in Ankara, Turkey.  She has taught across all stages of preparatory and primary education in the UK and abroad since 1998.  Ms Sawyer was educated at KingstonUniversity and has recently completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship.

Mike Bannister, Chairman of the Board of Governors said: “After a rigorous selection process Samantha emerged as the outstanding candidate.  She brings with her extensive senior leadership team experience and is extremely well qualified to build upon the wonderful work and vision the current Head, Peter Roberts, has already put in place.  We look forward to supporting her during the exciting times that lie ahead.”

Ms Sawyer said: “I am looking forward to joining StainesPreparatory School as the new Head Teacher from September 2014.  I am excited to be part of a school that has dedicated teachers, governors and parents as well as motivated students.  I will work hard to build upon the success of the school in addition to leading Staines Prep in many new future achievements.”

To ensure the smoothest possible transition, Ms Sawyer has been liaising closely with Mr Roberts and the management team.  Last week saw her on one of several visits to the school, flying in from her current post in Turkey.  She made the very most of her trip, not only to assist in new staffing appointments but also took time to meet some of the pupils and their parents.
