Outstanding achievements by pupils at the Powys Schools Athletics Championships

There were some outstanding performances by Christ College pupils at the Powys Schools Athletics Championships held at Penlan, Brecon on Thursday 24th May.

Under a cloudless sky and in high temperatures, a number of pupils put in medal-winning performances including:

• Jacob Williams who won Gold in the Discus, the Hammer, as well as earning a Silver medal in the Shot Putt.
• Bryony Martin-Brown who won Gold in the Shot Putt.
• Annabel James who won Gold in the Hammer.
• Alex Ryan who won Gold in the Javelin.
• Issy Morris who won Gold in the 1500 metres.
• Luke Henderson who won Gold in the 1500 metres.
• Bella Fisher who won Silver in the 1500 metres.
• Lachie Rourke-Davies who won Silver in the 200 metres.

Christ College athletics coach Mr Gary Halpin said: “I’m very proud of the performances of all of the pupils. The only time that ‘success’ comes before ‘work’ is in a dictionary! These guys have really put in the work ahead of these championships and their performances showed this.”
