Prior Park School Gibraltar – Official Opening

The newest member in the group of Prior Park Schools was celebrated on 19th October as Prior Park School Gibraltar was officially opened. Gibraltar’s Chief Minister, The Hon Fabian Picardo QC MP and His Excellency, Lieutenant General Edward Davis, Governor of Gibraltar, attended as special guests.

The event began with a celebratory Mass in Sacred Heart Church, located next to the school, with principal celebrant, His Excellency Bishop Carmelo. Prior Park pupils gave readings and the school choir led the hymns.

Many of those who had played a part in the new school’s journey were in attendance including the Headmasters of the three other Prior Park Schools and Governors.

Following Mass, guests were welcomed onto the school site for a drinks reception and tours of the school by the pupils. Speeches were delivered by the School’s Headmaster Peter Watts and Chief Minister, The Hon Fabian Picardo, and the school was blessed. The school’s inauguration plaque was unveiled by His Excellency, Lieutenant General Edward Davis.

Peter Watts commented, “I could not be more proud of our School. It has been a pleasure to welcome those who have contributed greatly in the School’s journey to join us on this very special occasion. I hope that all of our parents and pupils feel that their faith and patience over the last year has been well-rewarded and that they are proud to belong to the Prior Park community.”
