Prior Park Sporting Excellence Recognised

08 Nov 2013

Two Prior Park pupils have been recognised for their achievements in rugby and hockey respectively.

Kieran Kelly (Y12) has been nominated for the much coveted award of Rugby Player (18 and under) Of The Year in the Bath Sports Awards, 2013. The award ceremony will be held on 13 November and follows on from a hugely successful year of rugby for this talented player. Last year Kieran captained the England A-team and has undergone training as a member of Bath Rugby’s Elite Player Development Group.

Meanwhile, Gabriella Chapman (Y11) has received an invitation to a three-day residential course at England Hockey’s High Performance Assessment Camp (HiPAC) as a member of the Wessex Leopards, West of England Squad. Gabriella will attend the 3 day residential camp over half term and gain first-hand experience of an international training camp environment. England Hockey runs these annual camps to prepare talented performers for potential future involvement in National Age Group Squads. Gabriella’s selection for this level of training is a culmination of a series of fantastic achievements and impressive progress over the course of the past 12 months, with regular and increasingly demanding training and selection throughout that time.

Prior Park’s Director of Sport, Mr Steve Capon, says that the recognition for both students is thoroughly deserved; “Both Kieran and Gabriella are performing at a level that is testament to their own natural talent, their hard work in training and the support they receive from the sports staff at Prior Park. They are wonderful role models and we wish only the best for them as they forge ahead in their respective sports.”
