ROMSGROVE SCHOOL – FIFTH ANNUAL FOUNDATION LECTURE

11 Dec 2013

Bromsgrove School’s Fifth Annual Foundation Lecture, held at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, University of Birmingham attracted over 100 Former Pupils, Parents and Friends of the School on Tuesday 19th November.

The Institute’s former Director, Professor Ann Sumner, delivered a very interesting talk on the subject of ‘Tennis in Art’. Professor Sumner worked in Birmingham for many years, before taking up post in Yorkshire as Executive Director of the Brontë Society.

Guests were fascinated to learn that the first lawn tennis match was in fact played in Edgbaston, and the famous Athena poster of ‘The Tennis Girl’ was photographed on the University of Birmingham campus.

The School wishes to thank everyone who attended and looks forward to their Sixth Foundation Lecture in 2014.
