SIBFORD PUPILS REACH FOR THE STARS

04 Feb 2013

Pupils at Sibford School are reaching for the stars following the delivery of a state-of-the-art telescope.

The computerised Celestron NexStar 6SE Schmidt-Cassegrain Reflector Telescope can help locate planets and stars at the touch of a button.

It was purchased after the school received a cash donation … which stipulated that it was to be used to enhance the science provision at the Quaker-run school.

Head of Science, Cath Harding, said: “The new telescope will be used to enable us to run astronomy workshops with our science students.

“It will provide them with a fantastic opportunity to observe stars, planets and deep-space objects using equipment that is not often found in schools.”

Sixth form students Danny Chang and Tony Fan are pictured with Cath Harding alongside the new telescope.
