St Swithun’s Junior School swimming gala success

St Swithun’s Junior School swimmers had an extremely successful morning at the Winchester Primary Schools’ Swimming Gala, on Friday 10 June. The Year 6 girls won both their events and the Year 4 girls secured a second and fourth place in their race.
24 schools took part in the girls’ relay races, with 30 girls in the Year 4 individual freestyle event. Heats were held with the top six teams and top six individuals qualifying for the finals.
The St Swithun’s Year 6 relay team (Agnes Bracey-Davis, Olivia Busher, Mia Clark and Eleanor Holmes) won both the medley relay and freestyle relay, attaining a new school record in the medley.
Isabella Bruce and Hermione Murray swam extremely well in the Year 4 freestyle heats and both qualified for the final. In the final, Izzy came second and Hermione was fourth.
The gala was organised by the Winchester City Penguins Swimming Club and held at the River Park Leisure Centre.
