‘From Page to Screen – an evening with Tony Hawks’

Well-known comedian and author Tony Hawks is performing at St Swithun’s School, Winchester on Sunday 3 February at 7.00pm.

Tony is a TV and radio comedian and bestselling author. He is a Radio 4 regular on programmes which include Just a Minute, I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue and The Unbelievable Truth. He has twice been a contestant on Celebrity Mastermind with the specialist subjects “Tony Hawk the skateboarder” and “fridges”. He is proud to say he came last both times.

Tony will be talking about the process of adapting his books ‘Round Ireland with a Fridge’ and ‘Playing the Moldovans at Tennis’ for the silver screen. He will explain the process, show excerpts from the films and talk about the Tony Hawks Centre in Moldova for children with cerebral palsy, which was inspired by the book. Proceeds from the evening will go towards the new rehabilitation unit at the centre which is so desperately needed as more and more children with disabilities register for physical and psychological support.

Tickets, which include refreshments, cost £10 for adults/£5 for children and can be reserved from Jane Ebel penski@btinternet.com or from the Tony Hawks website: http://www.moldovansmovie.com
