STAINES PREP NEEDS YOU!

08 Mar 2013

The new £3 million development at Staines Preparatory School is nearing completion and the school is calling on the local community to help them come up with a name.
Based in the school grounds, the new building will link the existing Jubilee Wing, named in celebration of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and the Burges Wing, named after the school’s Founders, Mr C. T. and Mrs Betty Burges.
The facilities, which will be used by pupils throughout the day, will be available for community use after school, at weekends and during school holidays.
Headmaster Mr Peter Roberts said: “We are looking for imaginative, creative ideas that capture the essence of the new building, which comprise a full-size sports hall allowing us to provide a greater variety of sports; retractable seating to enable theatre-style music and drama presentations for up to 250 guests; new Science, Music and ADT suites, plus long-awaited upgraded changing facilities. We would like to invite the local community, including current and past pupils, to come up with some ideas.”
The school’s Facilities Manager, Nikolai Uzhvak said: “Our brand new sports and drama facility is excellent news for the local area. It is essential that school children and everyone in the community can access safe, quality facilities that provide for a wider variety of activities all year round. Our fantastic facilities offer something for everyone, no matter their age or ability, and we welcome suggestions from the community for a name that reflects this.”
Chair of The Friends of SPS, Emma Poole said: “We asked our pupils what they were looking forward to most about the new facilities. Comments ranged from ‘being able to kick a ball much higher’, to ‘being able to run very fast and play indoor matches when it was raining outside’ and being able ‘to invite more people to watch our Christmas play’. Our pupils are very excited about the new building and cannot wait to move in!”
To enter, simply send the suggested name to: Staines Preparatory School, 3 Gresham Road, Staines-Upon-Thames TW18 2BT, or email: fundraising@stainesprep.co.uk. Entries should arrive by 12 pm on Wednesday 13th March 2013. Please remember to include your name, address and telephone number.
