Staines Prep Preserved for Generations to Come

26 Feb 2013

On Thursday 14 February, a special time capsule was buried at Staines Prep to mark the imminent completion of the school’s visionary and exciting new £3m building project.

The capsule was packed with a variety of artefacts gathered by the children who represent the school at the present time. Some of the chosen items included – photos, a school badge, blazer and tie, and school literature. A keyboard and mouse, stamps, newspapers and a calculator were among the other items.

The capsule has taken residency outside the entrance to the new building, which houses the awe-inspiring, multi-functioning hall and state-of-the-art classrooms. It will be interned for 50 years until 2063. A specially designed bronze plaque marks the site.

The event was attended by pupils, staff and distinguished guests. The morning began with a poignant address given by the Headmaster Peter Roberts and closed with a tour of the new building.

The new building development is due to be completed next term. The project is intended to work in synergy with the school’s ethos and long-term strategy to enhance its curriculum and provide the widest range of opportunities for its pupils.
