Staines Prep Raise the ‘New’ Roof with a Musical Extravaganza!
09 Jul 2013
Staines Prep is delighted to announce the name of its new £3 million development. The competition, which ran throughout the Spring, attracted more than 250 entrants from the all over Spelthorne. Judges unanimously agreed on the name The Founders Building – the inspired suggestion of Mr Kevin Walmsley from Egham, in dedication of Mr and Mrs Burges who founded the School in 1935.
In recognition of this huge project, Staines Prep is running a series of exciting events to celebrate the new development, culminating in a ‘grand launch party’ due to take place later this year.
The much anticipated inaugural event was a Music Evening Extravaganza! The children raised the roof by displaying their exceptional talents to an excited and proud audience.
Pupils were bursting with enthusiasm as they treated friends, family and staff to a range of wonderful performances, using wind and string instruments, as well as showcasing solo singers, duets and the school choir.
Headmaster Mr Peter Roberts said: “This magical evening has injected life and soul into the building; it’s now no longer just bricks and mortar. The children worked very hard on their pieces and it was indeed rewarding to see them performing so ably and with such confidence and enjoyment. It was a real testament to the hard work put in by all those involved.”
The evening also included a wonderful recital by the school’s individual singing teacher, Miss Jeppeson, who performed Ah! Je Veux Vivre from Romeo and Juliet by Gounod.
