Steven Caulker opens ‘fantastic facilities’ at Staines Prep

13 Nov 2013

England International footballing hero Steven Caulker wowed a captivated audience of pupils, staff and dignitaries as he formally opened the new FoundersBuilding during the Grand Opening Ceremony at Staines Prep this week.

The massive new state-of-the-art sports hall was alive with excitement and anticipation as the rising star addressed a full school assembly, speaking of his love of football and his fond memories of the school.

Steven’s speech followed addresses given by the Chair of Governors Mike Bannister and headmaster Peter Roberts.  Mike Bannister said: “The opening of our new fabulous facilities was only topped by the children’s excitement at playing football with Steven.  It’s a day that they will always remember.”

During the second half of the ceremony Steven really got pulses racing as the children donned their sports gear and took up their positions for a spot of football training and a fun penalty shoot-out.  Not only did the expert tuition give the children a great work-out, but it put the new facilities through its paces too.

Steven Caulker said: “This school is where my dreams of being a footballer began and through a lot of hard work my dream came true.  What a fantastic opportunity the children have now with these facilities.  The quality and design is awe-inspiring.  This space is a real testament to the school’s ethos of ‘educating today’s children for the challenges of tomorrow’.  Any dream is possible with the right nurturing, great equipment and a bit of determination!  This place is going to create some fantastic memories and I’m sure a few great home wins along the way too!”

Staines Prep will be announcing a formal Open Day later this year.  It will give the public an opportunity to see the many changes and also the potential use for conferences and events.
