SUSSEX POLICE HONOUR SLINDON COLLEGE TEENAGER FOR HIS SELFLESS BRAVERY

08 Nov 2013

Slindon College pupil, Jason Brown, 15, has been awarded for his bravery by Sussex Police at a presentation ceremony.

Jason was travelling on the A27 with his mother, on his way to Slindon,  when they stopped at a serious road accident where a man had been hit by a lorry.  Jason attempted CPR on the man until the paramedics arrived, a skill he had learned during his Scuba Diving training at Portsmouth.  Sadly,  they were unable save the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

PC Glen McCarther said “Jason’s actions went above and beyond what many people would have done, let alone someone of his age.  It is important that we recognise such a selfless act and I am delighted his bravery is being recognised in such a way”

At a school assembly, Jason was presented with a Certificate of Merit signed by Sussex Police Constable, Martin Richards and West Sussex Assistant Coroner, Elizabeth Bussey-Jones.  His actions will also be rewarded with a helicopter flight courtesy of Advance Helicopters of Shoreham.
