TASIS Students Celebrate WE Day at Wembley Arena
09 May 2016
Thirteen TASIS England upper school students were invited to participate in WE Day in March. This all-day celebration at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London acknowledged the accomplishments of students who make a difference in their local and global communities.
Service to the community, whether it is local or international, is a vital experience encouraged by TASIS England and a requirement of graduation. TASIS is a member of WE Schools, an initiative of Free the Children, an international charity that educates and empowers young people.
Tickets to this event cannot be bought, but are earned through the students’ contributions to service organizations. WE Day is a celebration of their collective commitment to taking action on issues relevant to our changing world.
The TASIS England students represented the numerous upper school service clubs on campus: Fleming
Garden Club, Global Issues Network, Hope and Homes, Turkmenistan Paralympians, Make-A-Wish/Milele, The NO Project, and Redeveloping Hospitals in Ghana. They joined over 12,000 UK students, listening to world-renowned speakers such as the charismatic Spencer West and Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin, and being entertained by A-list performers Fleur East, DNCE, and Labrinth.
