Taunton School – Oxford offers

TWO sixth-formers from Taunton School in Somerset have received offers to study at Oxford University.

Taunton School independent day and boarding school in SomersetAmelie, 17, is hoping to study History at Queen’s College while 18-year-old Evie has been offered a place at St Hugh’s College to study Classics with Asian and Middle Eastern Studies.“It’s a really exciting opportunity for me to get this offer,” said Amelie who joined Taunton School after gaining a sixth-form scholarship. “I am very grateful to everyone who has supported
me in this achievement.”

Evie, who also joined Taunton School on a scholarship when she was 13-years-old, said: “I am really grateful to my wonderful Classics teachers who have built up my confidence. They have
supported and encouraged me to explore my interests and ideas beyond lessons. I am really excited to get this offer to study at Oxford.”

Taunton School achieves consistently excellent GCSE results and some of the best A-level and International Baccalaureate results in South West England. Some 96 per cent of Taunton School
sixth formers go on to top universities or colleges including Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group universities.
Students who apply to Oxbridge receive expert guidance from the school’s Careers Department as well as specialist tutoring from Head of History, Mark Chatterton.
