The Downs Malvern – Year 8 Leavers’ Experience

02 Aug 2018

After Year 8 finished their exams, they were treated to three weeks of fun-filled activites, trips and expeditions – the Leavers’ Experience.

Their first trip was a ‘physics’ trip to Alton Towers, where the children got to let off steam having just finished their exams.

They then took part in the annual ‘Creative Day’, where they could choose from a number of activities: art, where they were creating the props and set for the junior production of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, willow weaving, cookery, pottery and metalwork and woodwork, where they were making a stylish candle holder.

After struggling through ‘Strongy’s Stumble’ in the morning on Thursday, the children got to then try their hand at grassboarding – a great afternoon!

Their next trip was an exciting day trip to London, where they visited the Royal Academy of Arts, walked through Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, passing famous landmarks such asNelson’s Column, Horse Guards, The Cenotaph and No 10 Downing Street, before they arrived at The Palace of Westminster for a tour of Parliament.

Finally, the children got to enjoy a four-day expedition to Cwm Llwch, during which they tried canoeing, gorge-walking, climbing, abseiling and raft-building!

These are just some of the exciting activities that the children got to experience. It was a fantastic three weeks full of wonderful memories! ‘Well done’ Year 8!
