The King’s School Gloucester – Record A Level results lead to University places

The King’s School, Gloucester is celebrating the success of their Year 13 pupils today, with a 99 per cent pass rate at A Level and BTEC courses and 9 out of 10 pupils receiving Grades A* to C in their A Levels, ensuring that all who applied to University have been offered a place.

David Morton, Headmaster, commented, “We are very proud of all our pupils who have performed exceptionally well in this year’s A Levels and BTEC courses – this is a reflection of their determination and commitment over the last two years.

We are particularly delighted that 12 per cent of all grades were A* and over a fifth of our pupils achieved an A* or A in all of the A Levels they took. We wish these wonderful pupils every success as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”

There were strong individual performances from Miao Xu (A*, A*, A, A, A), Leon Klee (A*, A*, A*, A), Sunny Memon (A, A, A) and Anne Naybour, Conor Horlock and Joseph Freeman achieved D*, D*, D* in their Sports Science BTEC course, equivalent to 3 A*s at A Level.

The King’s School offers BTEC Sports Studies alongside its vast range of over 20 A Levels. In the BTEC, 75% of pupils achieved the highest level of three starred Distinctions, which is equivalent to three A* grades at A Level.

We are particularly delighted that all pupils who applied to University have secured places, with 80% getting their first choice. The Leavers’ destinations this year include Queen Mary’s University to study History and Politics, Birmingham University to study History, London School of Economics to study Government and Politics and Exeter University to study Law.

The excellent A level results this year demonstrates King’s tradition of academic success. However, King’s is renowned also for developing well-rounded individuals.

Alongside their academic studies many of the Year 13 pupils also took part in co-curricular activities, such as the musical Joseph, the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, or are members of the squad who have just returned from a thrilling sports tour of Malaysia and Singapore
