The Old Hall School – Aquathlon
06 Jul 2016
The Aquathlon saw teams competing in a swimming and running relay competition and was open to all abilities and to anyone who wanted to have a go, with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment. The Old Hall entered the largest number of children into the competition with 42 children making up 10 teams.
In the Year 3 and 4 age group all of The Old Hall teams swam and ran superbly to finish in third, fourth and fifth places (with only four seconds between each of the teams), 15th, 21st and 24th out of a total of 26 teams.
With a similar number of teams entering the Year 5 and 6 section of the event The Old Hall teams again performed outstandingly well. The Old Hall ‘Sharks’ team, made up of Poppy, Megan, Ella and Reuben kept the best until last in the final event of the afternoon as they completely dominated the race to finish in first place, over 30 seconds ahead of the runners up. With the other teams in this age group finishing in a highly creditable fifth, seventh and 15th position it was a memorable afternoon for all concerned.
The large contingent of The Old Hall staff present were all thrilled with the way the children threw themselves wholeheartedly into this event and were particularly pleased with the impeccable behaviour and sportsmanship which was commented upon by many of the spectators.
