The Royal Hospital School in Holbrook will be celebrating The Queen’s Birthday in style.

22 Apr 2016

On Thursday 21 April, pupils and staff at the Royal Hospital School will mark The Queens 90th birthday by participating in a flag ceremony at 8.15am at the front of the School. The School band will play the National Anthem during the raising of the Royal ensign and this will be followed by a special chapel service and later by a ‘Street Party’ at 5.15pm.

In preparation for this special day the 700 boys and girls, dressed in their ceremonial uniforms, marked out the number ‘90’ as an aerial photograph was taken. The picture has been framed and sent to Her Majesty The Queen as a birthday present from the School (see below and original photograph attached).

Headmaster, Simon Lockyer, said, “The Royal Hospital School was established by Royal Charter in 1712 and has enjoyed Royal patronage for more than 300 years. It is therefore fitting that the whole school joins together to celebrate The Queen’s life, her dedication to the Commonwealth and international affairs and her deep involvement with the Navy, Army and Air Force. We hope that she will like our gift which we have passed on via HRH the Duke of York, the School’s official visitor.”
