Tormead Sixth Form Expedition to Vietnam

19 Sep 2012

During the summer holidays, twenty-one Lower Sixth girls accompanied by Mr. Coles, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Carter and Dr. Lee travelled in two separate teams (Team Ream and Team Star) to Vietnam for a three week expedition.

The teams successfully built sixteen energy saving ovens for two remote rural villages in the Mai Chau province of northern Vietnam and the projects have definitely made huge differences to the lives of the villagers. Both teams also enjoyed the beautiful scenery and unspoilt landscape during the trekking phase of the expedition, witnessing numerous rice paddy fields and also traditional rural way of life.

During the final phase of the expedition, both teams visited famous landmarks such as Halong Bay near Hanoi and also travelled on an overnight train down to Hue and Hoi An for some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

The expedition has been life-changing for both the girls and staff and we will cherish the experience and memories for a very long time
