UCAS and Universities Fair at Christ College hailed as a success!

02 Jul 2013

On Thursday, 27th June 2013 Christ College hosted its first UCAS & Universities Fair for our own pupils as well as Year 12 pupils from a number of local secondary schools. The event was attended by representatives from a number of universities and higher education advisors.

The highlight of the day was a keynote address by Mary Curnock Cook OBE, the Chief Executive of UCAS (A full report to follow). A number of universities exhibited in the school’s Sports Hall where pupils and parent obtained information about the various institutions and the courses they offer. Institutions that exhibited included the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bath, Bath Spa, Birmingham, Cardiff, Cardiff Metropolitan, Gloucestershire, King’s College London, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Swansea, South Wales, Trinity St David, Worcester and the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester. Representatives from Careers Wales, Students Finance Wales and Futurewise were also available to offer careers advice.

Head of Christ College Emma Taylor said: “It is rare for representatives of so many different institutions and organisations to be gathered together at a school. It was evident from the buzz in the Sports Hall that those attending, pupils, parents and careers advisors both from Christ College and the wider community, were making the most of this opportunity to find out about higher education options and issues. It was a hugely enjoyable and informative event.”
