This year, the UCLA undergraduate admissions office received a record-breaking 119,000 applications for entrance in Fall 2016—more applications than any other four-year university in the United States. Join us to learn more about the reasons why students from around the world want to be a UCLA Bruin, and how to stand out in the applicant pool.

Ffiona Rees will join TASIS England for an informative evening during which she will present the amazing opportunities available at this world-renowned university. In addition, Ms. Rees will offer tips and information on how to navigate the unique University of California application. This is particularly important because the students themselves, rather than their schools, are responsible for reporting everything to the university, including their grades.

UCLA has the 8th largest population of enrolled international students in the United States, and Ffiona’s demanding job includes responsibility for managing the undergraduate international admissions and transfer evaluation process. She has 19 years’ experience in the college admission profession. Prior to moving to California and UCLA in 2012, she worked at The George Washington University in Washington, DC for 15 years.

Ffiona is the current Past-President of the International Association for College Admission Counseling (ACAC), the largest global association focused on facilitating the interaction among counselors, students, and higher education institutions. She has also served on the International Initiatives Committee of the US-based National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the Council of International Students (CIS) Asia Committee.

Ffiona received a BA in Geography and an MBA, both from The George Washington University. She lived in Oxford, England for seven years and travels throughout the United States and the world to recruit students. Highlights of her journeys include riding elephants in Thailand and India, visiting the Great Wall and the Taj Mahal, and accumulating lots of frequent flyer miles!
