On Thursday 25th May, Winterfold House School in Chaddesley Corbett hosted its inaugural Grandparents’ Tea Party.

Over 200 grandparents of children in The Woodhouse Nursery, Kindergarten 1 and 2, Reception, Yr 1 and Yr 2 enjoyed a delicious, home-made afternoon tea on the lawn at Winterfold.

The sun shone brightly as the children sang beautifully – ‘Grandma, Grandpa, we love you’ to the tune of Frere Jacques by KG 1, ‘You are my Sunshine’ by KG2, ‘Grandparents, for you’ by Reception, ‘Thank You Grandparents’ by Yr 1, and ‘Grandma/pa, we love you’ by Yr 2 children.

The grandparents were then treated to a set by the resident Winterfold house band Groove Diggers who played ‘Closer’ by Lemaitre, ‘The Chicken’ by Alfred James Ellis, ‘Bad’ by Michael Jackson and ‘Counting Stars’ by One Republic.

Mrs Sue Bealey, grandmother of Theo and Tilly Nash said as she left the event “that was a fantastic afternoon, really wonderful and quite emotional too”.

Mrs Toms, Headmistress thanked everyone for making the afternoon such an enjoyable occasion and the buzz of the event continued throughout the school for the rest of the afternoon.
